Practice Areas:

Stephanie Cassman is an aggressive and seasoned trial lawyer with a passion for trial work. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a number of jury and bench trials throughout Indiana in both the state and federal courts. Stephanie represents individuals and their families in personal injury, wrongful death, and civil rights cases. She gets to know her clients personally to fully understand how their injury has impacted them and their lives. It is important to go beyond just understanding the nature and extent of the injuries and the amount of medical expenses in order to obtain a maximum recovery for clients. In this way, she views her role as both a trusted advisor and aggressive advocate. She seeks to fully appreciate the impact of her clients’ injuries so she can then articulate how their lives have been changed by the accident.

Stephanie is a frequent speaker and author on jury selection and trial advocacy and serves on the faculty for the Trial Advocacy Skills College. She is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, where she served as the 2011 Chair of the Litigation Section and on the Board of Directors as Vice President in 2015. Stephanie is a Distinguished Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation recognized for her significant contribution to the legal profession and leadership within the community. She has been recognized as a top-rated litigation attorney and listed on the Top 50 Attorneys and Top 25 Women by Indiana Super Lawyers® in 2016 – 2023. In 2015, Stephanie received the honor of being named by her peers as the Indiana Defense Lawyer of the Year.

Stephanie was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana and is a life-long Hoosier. She earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and law degree from Indiana University McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. She is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana, the Southern District and Northern District federal courts and in the Seventh Circuit federal appellate court where she’s handled a number of appeals. Before joining Wagner Reese, LLP, Stephanie spent 17 years as a litigator with the well-respected Indianapolis law firm Lewis Wagner where she focused her practice on high-profile, high stakes litigation involving catastrophic injuries, civil rights violations, discrimination, and wrongful death. Stephanie joined long-time friends and respected colleagues Stephen Wagner and Jason Reese in 2017 to devote her practice exclusively to representing injured clients and their families.

The most rewarding part of her job is helping guide families through the most difficult times in their lives. Stephanie enjoys representing clients in personal injury actions because each client is unique. The same injury can impact different people differently depending on their occupation, hobbies, or obligations at home. The gratitude of her clients for listening to them and fully understanding what they’ve been through is the greatest reward.

Stephanie and her husband, Ryan Cassman, also an attorney, live in Zionsville with their two teenage children. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family, cooking, hiking, and gardening.
