Jason Reese Named Finalist for Prestigious Mentoring Award
Attorney Jason Reese has been named a finalist for a 2017 Inspire Award by the nonprofit organization, College Mentors for Kids. The organization has a goal to motivate students to reach their full potential and positively impact their community by partnering more than 2,500-grade school children with 2,700 local college student mentors. The Inspire Award celebrates the spirit of organization’s mission by identifying adult professionals who have profoundly invested in the careers and lives of others through mentoring.
“Jason has always been an excellent example of a true leader. He is also someone who understands the power and importance of helping others,” says partner Stephen Wagner. “The team at Wagner Reese is very proud to stand by him as he continues his community stewardship in mentoring. We congratulate him for being a finalist for this award.”
35 nominations, in seven professional career categories, were accepted. Jason was nominated in the Accounting, Legal, and Finance category. A selection committee will determine the winners.
Jason, who is also a father of three, was nominated for several of his mentoring activities, one being his work with the Advisory Board for Edge Mentoring. Edge Mentoring provides a unique value proposition for emerging young leaders by combining personal, professional and spiritual development in one mentoring experience. For the last two years, Jason has also been a mentor to five younger Christian mentees, connecting with each of them monthly. “Proverbs 27:17 says, ‘Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.’ As a Christian, I believe mentoring is important because it is an aspect of discipleship.”
Jason also spends time providing advice and partnership to younger attorneys, helping them design their own path. “I grew passionate about mentoring because I recognized that the successes I have had are greatly attributed to my own mentors like my father and other lawyers. These men took me under their wing and taught me the nuances of complex litigation,” says Jason. “And I am thrilled to now honor them, to be paying-it-forward, and also be recognized for making mentoring an experience that will help myself and others grow in our professional and personal lives.”
The 8th annual Inspire Awards will celebrate the power of mentoring on Thursday, February 23rd, 2017, in Indianapolis.
