Jaspreet Darar Fatally Injured in Multi-Semi Truck Accident
Police have been able to identify a man who was killed in a collision with a semi-truck on I-69 last Thursday.
After a chain reaction of accidents, Jaspreet Darar, 23-year-old Fishers resident, was a passenger in one of three cars involved in a six-vehicle accident (the other three vehicles were semi-trucks).
The accident occurred around 4 a.m. on Thursday morning, just south of 96th Street on the north side of Indianapolis.
It is unclear exactly what happened to cause the chain-reaction, but a fuel spill was also part of the crash, and all lanes of traffic were closed for several hours while HAZMAT worked to clean up the spill.
Semi Accidents Commonly Lead to Critical Losses
Because of their sheer size, ending up in a crash with a semi-truck is so often deadly. According to the NHTSA, there are nearly 4,000 people killed each year in semi-truck accidents, and 100,000 who sustain injuries.
