RECALL NOTICE - Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets
Unichem Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall for one lot of their Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets, specifically the 25 mg. 1000-count bottles. These bottles were packaged and shipped across the country, and then a Clopidogrel tablet was discovered in one of the bottles.
It is unknown how many Clopidogrel tablets mistakenly ended up in the bottles of the Hydrochlorothiazide, but the risks to patients mistakenly taking the Clopidogrel tablets could be deadly.
The side effects for Clopidogrel include bleeding and bruising, which could have an adverse effect to the intended results of the Hydrochlorothiazide. The Hydrochlorothiazide tablets are intended to benefit those with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, and kidney disorders. The pill assists in the prevention of salt absorption, which can cause fluid retention.
Clopidogrel can cause uncontrolled blood pressure, which often results in swelling and excess fluid retention, or edema.
