School Bus Accident Kills Pedestrian

Steve Wagner

A pedestrian was killed early this morning after being struck by a school bus. The bus was from Perry Township, and was only carrying one student at the time of the accident.

According to the police report, the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Thompson Rd. The pedestrian was reportedly walking westbound on Thompson as the bus was turning south onto Madison. The details of the accident are still in question, and fault has yet to be determined in the accident. Did the bus driver see the pedestrian? Was the driver distracted by the child on board or by a cell phone?

The child on board the bus was thankfully not injured, but was immediately taken to a school counselor to talk about the accident.
