OSHA Releases Their New "It's The Law!" Poster - Get Your Free Copy
Workers deserve to know their rights! As part of the initiative to protect workers and employees across the country, the Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been undeterred in their mission to create safe and healthful work environments across our country since 1970.
Since the initial founding of the Occupation Safety and Health Act of 1970, OSHA has been our country’s leader in worksite inspections, creating standards for all types of workplaces, and holding accountable those who do not foster safe and healthful workplaces.
Part of the act is that workers are entitled to speak up about their work environment if they believe it is an unsafe or unhealthy environment. Part of the problem is that workers are so often intimidated and believe that they will suffer negative consequences for expressing a fear or concern. What OSHA wants all workers to know is thatit is your right to speak up, and you will not suffer consequences as a result! It is against the law for your employer to reprimand or terminate you because you express concern for safety. It is also against the law for your employer to reprimand or terminate you because you request an OSHA inspection at your jobsite.
OSHA has always had free materials available for employers and employees to post in your workplaces, share with your co-workers, and use for your own benefit, but the latest unveiling of their new “It’s The Law!” poster gives the best, most detailed break-down of what you need to do if you are concerned for your safety, or the safety of others in your workplace. Employers need to display this sign in a place where all employees can read it, and if your employer does not have one on display, you can request a free poster directly from OSHA.
