Never Give Up on Buckling Up
Did you know that not using seat belts is the number one cause of driving fatalities in teens? And over half the children killed in traffic accidents in the last five years were unbuckled during the accident that caused their deaths.
The NHTSA is teaming up with parents to encourage buckling up and car safety, in an effort to cut down on the number of child and teen deaths every year that are a direct result of seat belt misuse.
The new campaign, “Never Give Up Until They Buckle Up” encourages parents to remind and even insist that their children wear seat belts, no matter the age of the children, and to not give up on the reminders and encouragement until buckling up become a regular habit for kids.
We encourage you to take a look at the resources the NHTSA is offering to parents, share the reminders with your family and friends, and most importantly, do a bit of research on the right type of car seat for your child’s age and weight, as well as encourage your tweens and teens to always wear their seat belt.
