Indiana Tech Team Injured In Tour Bus Accident
A tour bus carrying Indiana Tech’s men’s and women’s bowling teams crashed Thursday morning on I-65 southbound 22 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky. There were no fatalities, but 21 passengers were injured. Two patients are in serious condition and are under evaluation for concussion as well as pelvis and wrist fractures.
The charter bus, operated by Excursions Trailways of Fort Wayne, drove off the east side of the road and into the median, then went back to the southbound lanes and continuing off the west side of the road. After the bus left the road, it spun around clockwise and overturned.
Indiana State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, and the bus driver is being evaluated to see if the accident occurred due to a medical condition. Mechanical failure and driver error are also part of the routine investigation.
Our thoughts go out to the victims of this crash and to the staff and students of Indiana Tech.
