INDOT Construction Worker Injured Last Wednesday
We are saddened to hear of yet another construction worker who was injured last week in a serious job site accident. Thankfully, updates on the injured worker say he is in stable condition, and it’s hopeful that he will make a full recovery.
The accident happened when Zachery Rice, 24, was driving an asphalt roller in a Veedersburg, IN parking lot around 3 p.m. last Wednesday. There was a soft shoulder on the edge of the lot he was working on, and the roller became unstable and rolled into a drainage ditch. When the roller flipped, it pinned Rice underneath it.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and used a tow truck to extract Rice. He was immediately airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
