GranuFlo & NaturaLyte Lawsuit
Did you or a loved one undergo dialysis treatment in recent years? Were the dialysate drugs GranuFlo or NaturaLyte used as part of this treatment?
If so, you may be eligible for compensation if you suffered heart problems after your dialysis. Evidence in the mounting cases suggest that Fresenius Medical Care, the world’s largest provider of kidney dialysis services and products, alleges that they were aware of the potentially fatal side effects of these drugs and failed to warn hospitals and care providers before thousands of were treated with these drugs.
The possible side effects to these two drugs included:
- low blood pressure
- cardiac arrhythmia
- possible cardiopulmonary arrest
- & death
The FDA issued a Class 1 recall of GranuFlo and NaturaLyte on March 29th, 2012, but Fresenius reportedly failed to alert providers properly after the recall was given. Reports showed that more than 900 people experienced heart attacks in 2011 in Fresenius clinics, as a result of taking these drugs. Fresenius memos suggested that patients were more likely to experience cardiac arrest if they had increased levels of bicarbonate in their blood, and bicarbonate levels were directly linked to GranuFlo and NaturaLyte, but Fresenius marketed these drugs anyway and did not give proper warnings against their dangers.
