Dr. Jaime Guerrero Charged With Illegally Prescribing Medications
Another pain management doctor has been charged with illegally prescribing medications and causing patient deaths. Dr. Jaime Guerrero of Advanced Pain Management Center, with locations in Louisville, Kentucky as well as Jeffersonville, Indiana, was indicted by a federal grand jury regarding the deaths of five patients.
Dr. Guerrero’s 32-count indictment involves charges for prescribing the drugs oxycodone, methadone, and hydrocodone with no medical purpose between 2009 to 2012. He “is accused of causing more patient deaths than any defendant previously charged in the Western District of Kentucky,” according to the spokesperson for the US Attorney in Louisville. He is also of fraudulently billing health care benefits programs and submitting fraudulent drug and healthcare counseling claims.
While facing federal charges, Dr. Guerrero still has his medical license in both Indiana and Kentucky and is not behind bars. If convicted, he faces possible life in prison as well as a $2.75 million fine.
