Breaking the Language Barrier
Understanding and handling legal matters can be a task in and of itself. Finding a lawyer who excels at communication is a must, as the need to convey information to clients frequently involves life-changing and critical matters.
So what do you do when your clients speak a different language? Here at Wagner Reese, we are blessed to have Enrique Flores, Jr. on our staff to work with clients who are native Spanish speakers, as he is. His talents and abilities are ones we find ourselves in need of on a regular basis, and we are so thankful for his ability to communicate in situation where we are not always able, and help clients who we otherwise would not be able to reach.
Mr. Flores is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and its Latino Affairs Committee, as well as the Indianapolis Bar Association. He is also heavily involved with community outreach work, both with Wagner Reese, as well as through local schools and churches.
His most recent work comes in the form of an educational article that was posted in Verdict Magazine, a statewide release that is published by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Flores’ article, entitled “Breaking the Language Barrier: Representing Spanish-Speaking Clients” focuses on the significant need this country faces for trained and certified translators, as well as some of the challenges the language barrier poses when handling legal matters. We hope you will take the time to read this article and inform yourself of the issues surrounding this topic. As always, thank you for following along with us and helping us make the Indianapolis Community a better place!
