Reckless Prescribing Can Have Deadly Consequences
Over-prescribed drugs and bad prescription mixes are plaguing patients and creating victims at alarming rates. According to the CDC, 44 people in the United States die each day as a result of prescription drug overdose, which is over 16,000 people each year.
The most frightening part of this epidemic is that so often doctors are involved in the process of reckless prescribing or offering prescription mixes that aid in overdose, whether intentionally or unintentionally. If you’ve been following along with us, you’ve come to see that there can be a dark side of the medical practice.
For example, the recent case of Dr. Wagoner and Wagoner Medical Clinic uncovered the drug deaths of 27 patients that were under his care; patients he admitted to giving unsafe prescription mixes that ultimately led to wrongful death.
More recently, you’ve gained an inside look at the dangerous and deadly practices that were happening under the care of Dr. Hedrick and the Centers for Pain Relief in Indiana, specifically his Muncie clinic. The testimonies show that Dr. Hedrick is allegedly responsible for the deaths of eight patients, and the injury and illness of dozens of others, all patients for which he allegedly prescribed incredibly dangerous and toxic mixes of prescription pain relievers, frequently neglecting their existing prescriptions, or just writing prescriptions outside of the advisement of FDA regulations and general safe practices.
We will continue to bring you the updates on this case, and we hope you’ll follow along with us for an upcoming RTV6 interview on Wednesday, April 22 with our very own Jason Reese regarding the case against Dr. Hedrick and the family of one of the patients he so wrongly treated.
