IndyGo Bus & SUV Crash Cause Severe Injuries

Steve Wagner

Monday afternoon resulted in a life-altering tragedy for four Indianapolis residents. Around 3pm on Monday afternoon, authorities received a report that an IndyGo bus had been in an accident at 34th Street and Lesley Avenue.

First investigation results from IMPD showed that a Chevy SUV traveling east on East 34th St. crossed over the center line when it was passing the IndyGo bus, and struck the bus head on.

There was a 26-year-old woman driving the SUV, and she had a 16-year-old passenger with her. Both of them had to be extracted from the SUV, and they remain in critical condition. The driver of the bus remains in serious condition at IU Health Methodist Hospital, and a 46-year-old passenger on the bus was taken to Eskenazi Health, but she only sustained minor injuries.
