Black Friday Safety
Black Friday is upon us, and with this crazy holiday shopping frenzy, a host of risks and injuries always accompany it. While getting great deals and finishing your Christmas shopping early are fantastic things, Wagner Reese wants to encourage you to stay safe this holiday by offering a few tips to help you protect yourself, avoid personal injury and theft, and still check everything off your list!
- Even if you are tempted to camp out for a good deal, shopping during daylight hours can help you avoid theft, and also help you avoid injury. When things are more visible, things are safer!
- Remember to park your car in a well-lit area. Even if it means you have to walk a bit further. Parking in a dark area, especially with bags or packages in your car, will make you much more susceptible to a theft.
- Try to not carry an excessive amount of cash, or even all of your credit or debit cards with you. Planning your purchases in advance, and only taking what you need will help you avoid a total loss if your purse or wallet is stolen.
- If you plan to take children with you during your outing, give them some form of identification to keep on their person. We suggest a bracelet with your name and phone number on it, or perhaps even writing your phone number on their hand with a permanent marker. In the event that they are separated from you, another adult will have a much easier time helping them find their way back to you.
You never know what may happen on Black Friday, and we encourage you to not underestimate the violence or excitement of the crowd surrounding you. We have all heard the horror stories of the injuries that occur on this day, but we never think it will happen to us. The reality is that it could happen to anyone!
If you have suffered an injury as the result of someone else’s negligence or actions, the personal injury attorneys at Wagner Reese can assist you with your recovery and help you get the compensation you deserve to cover your medical bills and lost income.
