Warehouse Fire Still Under Investigation

Steve Wagner

WTHR 13 news has discovered ongoing problems at a local Indiana warehouse, and they believe the problems may have led to a serious fire on the premises last week.

The three-alarm fire took over 80 firefighters several hours to extinguish at the Indy Drum warehouse. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that this warehouse has had ongoing problems with safety violations, and has faced a number of citations from OSHA. Many of the violations were the result of the mishandling of hazardous chemicals and inadequate safety protection for workers.

In the last four years alone, Indy Drum has received 76 violations from OSHA, and 33 of those violations were labeled as “serious.” Indy Drum has paid over $300,000 in fines because of these violations.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and whether or not the results of the investigation will find that the incident was caused by some type of safety violation is pending.
