Actos Bladder Cancer Lawsuits
Actos: we’ve probably all heard the name, and maybe even know someone who took this extremely popular drug intended for the improvement of glycemic control in adults with Type 2 diabetes. Takeda Pharmaceuticals, the Japanese manufacturer of Actos, is now facing sanctions and involved in a trial underway in Las Vegas.
Claims against the manufacturer are stating that Actos has links to multiple cases of bladder cancer, and that the warnings did not suggest such extreme side effects. The lawsuit is headed by Delores Cipriano, and Bertha Triana, both women claiming to have developed bladder cancer as a result of taking Actos.
The Las Vegas trial began in February and is not the first to affect Takeda. Earlier this year, Takeda Pharmaceuticals was required to pay $6 billion in punitive damages in a suit in Louisiana.
