Tracy Morgan Critically Injured in Semi Accident
Actor Tracy Morgan was critically injured in a crash last Friday evening that left one man dead, and two others injured.
The semi truck accident occurred when Wal-Mart truck driver, Kevin Roper, reportedly did not see the slowed traffic in front of him, and slammed into the back of the 2012 Mercedes van that was carrying Tracy Jordan, James McNair, Ardie Fuqua, Jeffrey Millea, and Harris Stanton.
The crash killed James McNair, also known as Jimmy Mack. He was one of Tracy Morgan’s writers, and also one of his close friends. comedian Ardie Fuqua, and Jeffrey Millea, Morgan’s aide, were also critically injured in the crash. Comedian Harris Stanton sustained a broken wrist, and considers himself very lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries.
Kevin Roper has been released from custody on $50,000 bail, but he will appear in court sometime this week to hear his charges. It is suspected that he will be charged with vehicular homicide, as well as four counts of assault by auto. Rumors are that Roper had not slept for the 24-hour period prior to the crash, and may have been dozing off before he hit Morgan’s van. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in this accident, although the crash is still under investigation.
We will follow up with more on this article and Morgan’s condition as we hear the news. We are also looking into more details involving legislation of truck driving hours, and a new bill that is working to repeal the 70-hour work week limits, allowing drivers to be on the road, even when they haven’t slept. We hope to update you with more of this information later in the week.
