National Safety Stand Down Week

Steve Wagner

This week, June 2nd – 6th, is the Department of Labor’s National Safety “Stand Down” Week. This week is set aside to raise awareness for the thousands of deaths that occur each year as the result of slip, trip, and fall injuries. The week is also dedicated to educating those in our workforces in order to prevent more injuries and deaths from occurring in the coming years.

According to the National Safety Council, over 25,000 people are killed each year in fall-related accidents, and a large portion of those accidents occur in the construction industry, as well as in other manufacturing and factory environments. Because of the dangerous nature of these jobs, workers are put at risk every day. Without the proper safety equipment, as well as thorough safety training, scaffolding, ladder, roofing, and bridge accidents can be a severe threat to workers across the country.

This year, we hope you will take a few minutes to look over the resources OSHA has put together, as well as share them with your friends, family, co-workers, and employer. Educating those around you on the dangers of slip, trip, and fall accidents could save the life of someone you love.

If you have lost a loved one to one of these accidents, or if you have suffered an on-the-job injury, give the construction injury and work injury lawyers at Wagner Reese a call for more information on how we can assist you. Our representatives are here to assist you with any questions you may have, as well as help you schedule a free consultation with one of our attorneys.
