New Demolition Hazard Training Materials from OSHA

Steve Wagner

Over the last few years, OSHA has written over 1000 citations for violations on demolition sites, and we all-too-frequently hear of construction workers who are killed or seriously injured on the job when a demolition goes awry.

Earlier this year, six people were killed and 14 others were injured when a building in Philadelphia collapsed during the demolition process. This is just one example of several that have already occurred just this year. Demolition is an extremely dangerous process, and if it is not done without extreme precision and caution, it can go horribly wrong.

OSHA has released new training materials for the purpose of preventing injuries and deaths on construction and demolition sites. To learn more about the new training resources from OSHA, you can read the full article on their website, and view their updated Demolition page. These new resources will equip contractors, supervisors, and workers to be on the lookout for potential hazards, as well as train them to assess demolition sites for dangers and adequate worker protection.
