Explosion at GM Plant Kills Employee
One person was killed and several others were injured in a chlorine dioxide explosion at the GM plant in Marion, IN on July 1st. An employee at the plant, 48-year-old James L. Gibson was killed in the explosion. No reports have been released yet regarding the condition of those injured in the accident.
According to fire officials and those at GM, they were able to get the situation under control quickly, and they evacuated all other employees from the premises. The plant is a GM-owned stamping plant located at 2400 W. Second St. in Marion, just 64 miles north of Indianapolis.
