Megabus Accident On Indiana Toll Road
For the third time since October, a Megabus has been involved in an accident in Indiana. The October incident was a rollover accident in the rain near Greenwood and injured dozens of people, while an early December Megabus crash happened near Seymour amid icy roads and injured over 20 people. This latest Megabus accident took place on the Indiana Toll Road in Hammond, near the Illinois-Indiana State Line.
On December 30, the Chicago Tribune reports an 18-year-old driver died in a crash involving a semi truck about 11:15 am. This fatal crash led to traffic backups, and a Megabus headed from Indianapolis to Chicago around 1pm hit a Honda Pilot, a Kia, and then a Chevrolet Equinox. The Chevrolet then hit a Subaru Outback.
None of the 80 bus passengers were injured, though they were checked by Hammond EMS as a precaution. Two people from the cars hit by the Megabus were taken to a Gary hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
