Update on Dr. Ley and Suboxone Prescriptions
Information was just released on Carmel, IN Dr. Larry Ley and his “pill mill” practice of prescribing Suboxone to addiction recovery patients, in exchange for cash. Dr. Ley was recently arrested and remains in jail with a $300,000 bail in both Hamilton and Howard counties.
Suboxone, the drug Dr. Ley was prescribing patients in exchange for cash, is an anti-opiate drug, used to help addicts fight off the recurrence of drug use. The drug prevents takers from experiencing a euphoric high, and is intended to assist patients (with additional monitoring and treatment) in the process of battling painkiller addictions.
In Dr. Ley’s office, patients could come in, pay cash, and get Suboxone prescriptions without ever undergoing any type of medical examination, and without undergoing drug testing, or additional monitoring or counseling, like the manufacturers suggest.
