Teenager Dies in Spring Break Balcony Accident
A thirteen-year-old boy died last week after he fell from a condo balcony in Panama City Beach, FL. The boy, Zachary Dickman, was visiting Florida with his grandmother for spring break. According to his grandmother, they were about to check out of the hotel when Zachary realized he had left his phone up in the hotel room. Zachary went to retrieve his phone, but when he did not return several minutes later, his grandmother tried to call him. When he did not answer his cell phone, his grandmother when back up to the room to check on him, and then discovered he had fallen from the balcony.
Zachary was a 7th grade student at Plainfield Community Middle School, and the school has shared that they are deeply saddened by the loss. They have implemented the use of grief counselors for other students of the school, and they share their deepest sympathies with Zachary’s family.
The police are currently investigating how this tragedy happened, and they are treating the case as an accidental death.
