Reumofan Plus - When Drugs do More Harm than Good

Steve Wagner

All drugs sold in the USA require FDA approvals, which come after strict safety testing. Changing anything in the drug, or any deviance from the stipulations within the testing, voids the approval.

Reumofan Plus, marketed as a natural dietary supplement for pain relief and alleviation of serious conditions such as bone cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, muscle pain, and other conditions, apparently has three undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients: dexamethasone, diclofenac, and methocarbamol. These ingredients reportedly cause a wide range of conditions ranging from dizziness, insomnia, low blood pressure, and high blood sugar levels, to grave conditions such as heart attack, stroke, severe gastrointestinal tract bleeding, malfunctioning of liver and kidney, corticosteroid withdrawal syndrome, and even death. There have been many recent reports of illness pertaining to the use of this product.

The FDA issued a general warning about health supplements in July of 2012. Now, considering the risk factors associated with Remuofan Plus, the manufacturers have withdrawn the product from the shelves. However, simply recalling the product may not absolve the manufacturer of blame. The recalled Reumofan Plus tablets were sold in packaging that did not list the active pharmaceutical ingredients, causing the drug to be dangerous and in violation of the FDA’s approval.

If you have consumed, or are consuming, Remuofan Plus or any other similar supplements, and have experienced the symptoms mentioned above, your first step should be to contact your medical practitioner. You may also consider reporting the adverse events or side effects to the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program. However, you should not stop at that. You are entitled to damages for the extreme risk and the harm that the drug company put you in. A drug injury lawsuit is in order.
