An employee of the Land ‘O Lakes Purina Feed Plant in Evansville, Indiana was killed early Wednesday morning after a tragic accident at the plant.
Authorities have identified the victim as 43-year-old Nugene S. Pike, Evansville resident.
The Evansville Fire Department Assistant Chief, Dan Grimm was able to describe the accident and told news sources that co-workers of Pike called 911 immediately after finding him unresponsive and suspended about 20 feet off the ground, stuck between a lift device and the wall.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and we will continue to follow updates as they come available.
Our sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. Pike during this tragic time of loss. We also hope that the Land ‘O Lakes Purina facility will take this opportunity to learn from any mistakes that may have caused the industrial accident, and that they will work hard to remedy potential hazards and eliminate dangerous working environments for their employees.
