Death of Child at Fishers Daycare Under Investigation
Police are still investigating the death of a 21-month old boy that occurred last Thursday at a daycare in Fishers, IN.
Emergency personnel were called in shortly after noon, when the boy was found to be not breathing. Police arrived quickly and performed CPR until the medics arrived three minutes later. The boy was immediately taken to Community North Hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The daycare center is a licensed in-home facility called Home Away from Home, and they have been operating in the 13000 block of Hawkstone Drive since 2010. Although there was no suspicion of foul play in this instance, the responsibility of the daycare is still under heavy scrutiny. Since their opening in 2010, the center has been cited 26 times for different violations, according to the Family and Social Services Administration. In spite of these citations, the last three inspections on the facility have been clean.
Our sympathy is extended to the family of this little boy, and we hope that the police will take every precaution to ensure that no more lives are lost unnecessarily.
