Citizen's Energy Worker Suffers Burn Injury
An unidentified Citizen’s Energy worker suffered burn injuries early last Wednesday morning when a steam vent was blown open. Officials from Citizen’s Energy are saying that a steam leak caused the cover of the manhole to blow off, and in an effort to fix the leak, the man who was injured stepped in about a foot of extremely hot water, causing burns on his leg below the knee.
Police and a medical team were immediately called to the scene. The man’s current condition and the severity of his burns are unknown, but he was hospitalized as a result of his injuries.
Thankfully, the leak was located and has been repaired, so further injury to workers and citizens should not be an issue. The manhole was located in the middle of North Street between Meridian and Illinois.
