3 Crew Members Killed in Eastern KY Helicopter Crash
Three crew members of the Air Evac Lifeteam were killed last Thursday evening in a helicopter crash just outside of Manchester, KY, about 90 minutes Southeast of Lexington, KY.
The three members were identified as the pilot, Eddie Sizemore, the flight paramedic, Herman “Lee” Dobbs, and the flight nurse, Jesse Jones.
The accident occurred in unknown circumstances; witnesses are saying the helicopter came down through a “dense fog”, but the cause of the crash is still unknown and will remain under investigation. There were no patients on board as the helicopter was on its way back to the base in Manchester, KY after transporting a patient to a hospital in London, KY.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been alerted about the accident and an investigation is underway.
