Death of Toddler at Daycare Ruled an Accident
The death of the 21-month-old boy at the Fishers daycare last week has been officially ruled as an accident.
The cause of death is listed as “mechanical asphyxiation”, and though the exact reason for the asphyxiation remains unknown, this type of asphyxiation is a fairly common cause of infant deaths.
Our hearts are saddened by this accident, and we mourn over the loss of such a young life. We do recognize a certain amount of thankfulness that this was not another tragic incident of caretaker neglect, but instead just an unfortunate accident.
The neglect and injury of children at childcare centers has become a terribly horrific trend over the past few years, and stories keep accumulating of children who were injured or killed as the result of the negligence of someone entrusted with their care.
