Worker's Compensation PPI

  1. Permanent Partial Impairment is a significant impairment, loss of use, or loss of a body part or body function that arises from a work injury. 
  2. A medical doctor can/will assign a permanent partial impairment (PPI) rating after a thorough medical examination. 
  3. A doctor will complete a functional capacity exam (FCE) to determine a PPI rating.
  4. PPI rating and weekly benefits are calculated based on the injury and body part.

A Note About Recovery Limits

In 2012, Indiana put a compensation cap on non-economic based damages. For personal injury cases in the state of Indiana, any case paid by the government may not exceed an award of $5,000,000. The Indiana Supreme Court is currently contesting this cap as unconstitutional, so these limits may soon be abolished.
